The world premiere of director Natalia Mirzoyan’s animated film "Winter in March" took place in the official competition program of La Cinef at the 78th Cannes International Film Festival, where the film was awarded the Palme d'Or, winning the honorary third prize and selected from more than 2,400 submissions.

The Cinema Foundation of Armenia warmly congratulates director Natalia Mirzoyan, producer Armine Harutyunyan, and the entire creative team on this significant achievement, wishing them continued victories on international platforms. The project was first presented at the "ReAnimania" International Animation Film and Comics Art Festival of Yerevan, where it received its first award.

It is worth noting that the film "Winter in March" was produced with the financial support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia and the Cinema Foundation of Armenia. The film is a co-production between ArtStep Studio (Armenia), Rebel Frame, Estonian Academy of Arts (Estonia), Black Boat Pictures (France), and White Boat Pictures (Belgium).

This film is based on the true story of a couple from St. Petersburg. It begins on the first day of the war between Russia and Ukraine and depicts the events from the perspective of individuals who are Russian citizens but oppose the war. The film depicts the first month of the war and follows the couple’s journey to Georgia. The hardships lead to emotional estrangement, ultimately ending in separation.
