The Cinema Foundation of Armenia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, continues its initiatives to make Armenian cinematic heritage accessible to servicemen.
As part of this effort, a special screening of director Nerses Hovhannisyan’s 1982 film “The Mechanics of Happiness” was held at one of the Ministry of Defense’s military units.
In this film, happiness was far from mechanical — it was an emotion that came alive during the screening: in the soldiers’ smiles, in moments of silence, and in the quiet verses echoing in their thoughts. Following the film, an open discussion allowed the servicemen to share their impressions and reflections.
The Cinema Foundation of Armenia believes that such initiatives not only raise awareness of national film heritage but also strengthen the generational connection to Armenian culture and values. This was more than just a cultural event — it was a moment of rediscovering and reinforcing cultural identity.
We believe it is essential for future generations to recognize and embrace their cultural heritage — not just from textbooks, but also through the immersive experience of cinema.
This is an ongoing initiative and will continue in various units of the Armenian Armed Forces, featuring both celebrated and rarely seen masterpieces of Armenian cinema.
